danashulps says “Cover Girl Aqua works great with dry skin.” about Cover Girl cg aqua smoothers

February 9th, 2010

I have a hard time find concealers and foundations. I have dry skin (and psoriasis). I also have very pale skin that is hard to match.

Cover Girl Aqua Smoothers has a very thin liquid consistancy so it can be applied lightly. I don't like to use much foundation/concealer just enough to even my skin a bit. This products works perfectly for light coverage.

When I have a bad psoriasis flare up I like that I can combine this with my daily moisturizer and cover up the red patches of skin without it exaggerating the dry skin look. Sometimes red skin can show through a bit but I would rather I have a barely noticeable red blotch on my face then flesh colored dry skin that looks scaly.

The lack of opacity also makes it match my skin better. I lack the pink undertones that most pale skin has. So I always have to try and find the right balance between pale as a ghost and tan. Most foundations end up being way too dark or washing my skin color out completely. Aqua blends nicely and doesn't leave...

steph1577 says “Garnier Fructis 3-Minute Undo…A really rich deep conditioner” about Garnier Fructis Garnier Fructis 3-Minute Undo Dryness Reversal Treatment

February 9th, 2010

I'm always in the market for new products that will do what no other product does.  When I bought this, I hadn't really tried a lot of the Garnier products.  I saw this in the store, and bought it because it was on sale and I had a coupon.  I'm pretty happy with it.  It smells great...the product says it contains "3 Nutritive Fruit Oils" (Olive, Avocado, and Shea) but I really can't tell which of these it smells like.  What I really like about this product is how rich it is.  Picture the Bath and Body Works body creams- RICH!  Putting this product on dry ends feels very luxurious. There is only one strange thing...this product contains apricot seeds "for extra nourishment".  While I appreciate all the nourishment I can get, I think it's a little odd to have little baby seeds in my luxurious deep conditioner! However, the seeds rinse out, and I have never had someone come up to me and say "Hey! You have an apricot seed in your hair!".

The apricot seeds are the only reason I gave...

steph1577 says “Biore blemish fighting ice cleanser…SO REFRESHING!” about Biore Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser

February 9th, 2010

When I go to the gym in the evenings, sometimes (if I'm getting a great workout), I sweat a lot. I worry about my pores getting clogged, which would cause my face to break out.  Even though this product has a line on the bottom that says "Complexion Clearing", I have noticed that it does a great job unclogging pores BEFORE my face breaks out.  This is an oil-free cleanser with salicylic acid in it, but it doesn't feel like it dries my face out like the teenage acne products I used to use.  I usually use it in the shower after my workout, and apply moisturizer afterwards.  I've also used this product on my upper arms and chest (hey...sometimes those pores clog too), and I was surprised that it doesn't irritate the sensitive skin in those areas.  Since I only use this product as a preventative cleanser, I'm reluctant to give it 5 stars. However, since I haven't had any breakouts while I've been using it, I have to say that it's doing its job!!!!

danashulps says “Clear care- an easy way to clean contact lenses.” about Ciba Vision Clear Care Contact Solution

February 9th, 2010

My eye doctor gave me a bottle of Clear Care solution when I switched to Day & Night lenses. She said it cleaned lenses better then the other no rub solutions and would help prevent eye infections from wearing my contacts for more than a day at a time.

Clear care does require 6 hours to work. It states that about 10 times on the bottle and the box. There is also a red tip on the bottle so I can't imagine why people are saying they accidentally put it directly in their eye.

I think Clear Care works quite well. My lenses seem to be in better shape at the end of the month.
I love the no rub solution. Just fill up the container, put the lenses in, and you're done. I also like this case. No more digging around in the case to try and find my lens when it's stuck to the inside of the cover slowly drying out. The case does have a small hole (for air to escape) so when filled it has to sit up right and doesn't travel well.

If I am taking my lenses out for less than 6 hours I simply use one of...

danashulps says “Kenra Thermal Spray- A great hairspray.” about Kenra Thermal Styling Spray 19

February 9th, 2010

Kenra Thermal Styling Spray was recommended to me by my hair stylist. I had asked her which brand of heat protectant would work best for my fine and at times frizzy hair. When she said Kenra I was a bit wary because there was a huge display of it in the middle of the floor and at $17 a bottle (8 fl. oz. / 237 ml) was potentially a huge waste of money.

The chrome colored bottle and lack of powder scent made me decide to give it a try.

For straightening my hair I can just spray 1/4 of my hair at a time comb it through (so it gets applied evenly without wasting any) and use my flat iron/instyler. It helps keep my hair straight without getting the normal hair spray gunk on my irons and my hair stays fairly soft.

When curling my hair I spray a one inch section with it at a time and curl it when the spray is still just the slightest bit wet. After I get all my hair curled I spritz it lightly over all my hair. The curls usually stay all day. The best part is they aren't weighed down, sticky,...

katherine-vieira says “Super Replenishing Conditioner for Dry, Damaged Hair” about Matrix Biolage Hydrating Conditioning Balm

February 9th, 2010

My sister gave me this conditioner as a gift. She works at a salon as a hair stylist. She knows what my hair has been through, (Stripped, dyed every color, by the box and professionally, cut myself and professionally, and heat styled (straightened, curled and blow dryed)...everything. Using it made me feel like I was giving my hair the moisture it needed. Really replenishing it. I have very long hair but only need a small dab each time I condition, because I only put it on the ends (about 4 inches up from the ends, because I have layers and my hair was really dry). You can use this conditioning balm once a week for deep conditioning treatment, because it's that powerful, or you can use very small amounts when you wash your hair every say three days. I don't shampoo every day, because I already have dry hair, but I don't use a lot of conditioner because otherwise it would be limp and get greasy too quickly. Anyway, my hair feels taken care of with this conditioner that comes in a tub and...

danashulps says “Biore nourish- a great moisturizer.” about Biore nourish moisture lotion

February 9th, 2010

Biore Nourish is a great year round moisturizer. It keeps my skin from getting dry in the winter months and protects my skin from the sun in the summer months.

Biore Nourish smells great (a light flowery-fruity scent) and doesn't leave skin feeling oily. The lotion absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a wet feeling either. I use this moisturizer under my make-up every day. It hasn't caused any build up or clogged pores/acne like some moisturizers.

This product only has an SPF of 15 so it doesn't replace sun screen but works good as every day protection.

The gentle ingredients allow me to use this with my Dermarest or Psoriasin medicated lotions without causing any irritation, itching, or redness.

Biore Nourish is also very affordable when compared to other brands that cost twice as much and are half the size. I would reccommend this product to anyone that suffers from dry skin and needs an easy to find affordable solution.
